day one in the books

Day one is in the books and it feels amazing! Cleaning out the fridge and pantry was liberating. Almost like the feeling you get when the weather gets warm and you open all the windows of the house and then decide to clean your closet. Best. Feeling. Ever.

I’m not worried about missing coffee or bagels or slurpees (ok maybe slurpees a little bit) instead I’m excited to fuel my day with fruit and veggies and delicious filling meals. I even started working out! I feel great and have a ton of energy.

I know it’s still early on by I’m already really stoked about Rip’s Big Bowl. I love cereal. I can eat it all day and sometimes even prefer it as a late night snack. If I’m being bad I will eat OPPS All Berries but most of the time I’m a big fan of Frosted Shredded Mini Wheats and Grape Nuts so it’s not really a surprise that I love Rip’s Big Bowl because two of the ingredients are shredded wheat and grape nuts.

I put my own little twist on the bowl and added dried cranberries and unsweetened coconut to the mix. This will make a huge batch of cereal which will be great to have for snacks throughout the day if you need it. I also prefer to have mine with Vanilla Almond milk 🙂

Rip’s Big Bowl with a Chassie Twist

Makes 4 servings but you’ll have a lot left over to make more.

1 cup plain shredded wheat

1 cup grape nuts or Ezekiel Sprouted Grains

1 cup Arrowmills Spelt Flakes

1/2 cup sliced almonds or chopped walnuts

1/2 cup dried cranberries or raisins (any dried fruit will work)

1/4 unsweetened shredded coconut

  1. Mix all the ingredients together in an airtight container and serve with fresh fruit and almond milk.

Enjoy!

I agree with you about cereal. I love oatmeal with muesli, raisins, almond milk, flax seed and wheat germ. I am so full I almost forget lunchtime. I am feeling really great and my husband is committed about 70%. He cannot give up cottage cheese and V8 Fusion. I am proud that he is at least trying new things even though we have had a few small arguments about having “no food in the house” that he can eat. LOL. He liked the Raw Revolution bar, yippee, I am hoping if he can’t find protein he can try the Raw Revolution bar. He is learning to love beans but still upsets his stomach. Can anyone suggest a protein with breakfast besides soy??

Ooh, I love all the ingredients in Rip’s Big Bowl, so I’ll definitely give it a try. Sounds yummy.
