Last Summer Steve and I needed a vacation…one with lots of relaxation, good clean food and a great spa. We were both burnt out from working too much, disconnected from each other and not eating the way we really wanted too.
I knew that we needed a reset. What I didn’t realize was that those 5 days tucked away in Napa Valley, drinking green juice every morning, soaking in mineral pools, detached from our electronics and eating super fresh, super clean food every day would inspire a new kind of way to cleanse.
So I got to work. I outlined everything, put together some great recipes and then did absolutely nothing with it.

Nothing. I just let that baby hang out in my files collecting virtual dust. It wasn’t until I sat down to lunch with my dear friend Emily commiserating about how we felt terrible that as nutritionists we absolutely hated doing cleanses.
I told her about my cleanse idea and she said OMG –I am totally working a cleanse JUST LIKE THAT with Tenley! You should collaborate with us.
And collaborate we did. Rather than boring you with the details of 2 women getting overly excited about cleansing while eating their salads and drinking kombucha I want to share with you the outcome of that beautiful February afternoon.

I love this proverb and that is how I felt after collaborating with Emily and Tenley on this really fun project. These ladies bring some series nutrition power to the table. That paired with my design skills and recipe making madness we make a pretty awesome team.
So what does a cleanse designed by health coaches who hate cleansing look like?
Well, for starters – it looks a lot like what you might want it to be. Now I’m not talking about eating donuts and slurpees every day but I’m talking more about giving your body what it needs while allowing it to reset in a way that won’t leave you “hangry”, tired and weak.

The DIY cleanse starts cleaning up the diet and easing the body into more raw foods. It then moves you into three days of juices and smoothies to really amp up the detox process and the last several days is all about introducing meals that ease you back into eating clean, whole foods.
